Marcus Armstrong has claimed two podiums from three races at the second round of the the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth.
In qualifying, the Kiwi teenager qualified on the front row alongside Italian driver Lorenzo Colombo, with 16 drivers separated by just 7/10ths of a second.
The first race of the round started in heavy rain behind the Safety Car (after three laps). Treacherous conditions saw very little passing with Armstrong finishing in third behind Dutchman Job Van Uitert and Colombo.
Race 2 was again started behind the safety car after heavy rain affected the region overnight. Rookie Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech) won the race on a drying track. Armstrong failed to finish after coming together with Colombo while challenging for the lead.
The final race of the weekend saw Armstrong back on the podium finishing third. While parts of the circuit remained damp, the Italian Colombo took out the win after Dutchman Job Van Uitert went wide on the opening lap. Van Uitert then had to withstand a persistent challenge from Armstrong who eventually finished in third.
The seven round championship moves to Vallelunga for the third round 25 June 2017.
