Lester thrilled with Super GT Series tyre test

Jono Lester writes from Japan……

I’m thrilled with my first impressions of Gulf Racing ahead of this year’s Japanese Super GT series, after two days of tyre testing at Okayama this week.

By testing a range of Yokohama tyre compounds, we made breakthroughs in both wet and dry conditions and already the Gulf Porsche is hooked up and handling ‘on rails’ – with much more to come.

It’s rare to get quality test miles away from the pressure and distraction of a race weekend, and it’s during these days that genuine meaningful progress is made.
We return to Okayama for two more days of testing in March, followed by another two days at Fuji Speedway.

The 2017 Super GT season – and my first full-time programme in this awesome championship – kicks off at Okayama with a 300km race on April 9.

You can follow it all LIVE with English commentary at NISMO.tv. Look out for streaming links in my upcoming race previews throughout the season
