Vlok signs with Victory Motorsport
Fresh from racing in Canada, Canterbury's Chris Vlok has signed with Victory Motorsport of Nelson for the much anticipated Toyota Racing Series 2012 Season.
Vlok anticipates an exciting season with a total of twenty drivers including fifteen internationals competing, starting with the Teretonga round in Invercargill January 12th-15th.
This year, Chris was crowned 'Rookie of the Year' in the 2011 Quebec Formula Tour, Canada, placing 4th overall after 5 podiums and 1 win.
At age 19, Vlok has confirmed a seat with Nelson based Victory Motorsport to compete the full season of the Toyota Racing Series 2012.
Victory Motorsport team boss Garry Orton declared, "We are very pleased to welcome Chris to our trio of drivers competing in the 2012 Toyota Racing Series. He has made an excellent impression on the team and Toyota Racing Management during the official pre-season test earlier this week. Making the leap from Canadian Formula Ford to the Toyota Racing Series in his third year of competition in motorsport is a big challenge, and we will be with him every step of the way but we are confident he will do well given his performance this week"
"I'm very excited about the move to Toyota Racing Series. The opportunity that has been given to me is really second to none and it looks to be a great new environment for me to learn in and to test myself against world class drivers to see how i compare," commented Vlok.
"I'm very thankful for Toyota Racing Series giving me this perfect stepping stone in my career, and also to my sponsors Miles Toyota Christchurch and Talleys New Zealand, as well as all of my supporters. I'm really looking forward to the first race next year in Invercargill"
