VIP Petfoods 12 Hour Race almost ready to go

The Historic Racing Club and Taupo Classic Rally Club have announced entries will be accepted for a limited time for the Dynatron 3 hour race and the Race Tech 6 hour race to be run within the VIP Petfoods 12 race at Hampton Downs over the weekend of 12th-13th August 2011.

This will cater for competitors who felt 12 hours was too long for either them or their machinery.   The 3 hour and 6 hour races have a minimum of only two drivers and there will be trophies awarded for both these two category winners.

Tony Quinn is expected to head up the Australian contingent in his Porsche 997 RSR - rumoured to have Craig Baird on the team - and the VIP Mosler will be part of the Aussie team (driver to be confirmed).  There is also talk of a challenge for the diesel record.

Other cars entered or expressing strong interest include a  Ford Focus V8, Honda Civic R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 1/Evo 9, Porsche GT3 & 944, Ferrari F430, Radical 10, Saker SVIR, and VW.

Last year's inaugural 12 Hour Endurance Race at Hampton Downs was a great success and this year the classes have been changed to reflect the current market range.

Entries are still being taken and are expected to be strong.
