Swift class to compete in Australia

New Zealand’s highly successful Suzuki Swift Sport Cup class is set to debut in Australia in 2011 with preparations already underway.

It is reported that the new series will be for drivers under the age of twenty-five years and be called the Australian Swift Sport Young Driver Series.

Having completed for three full seasons in New Zealand the class has proven to be a winner with three key elements making a successful recipe.

•    It is affordable.  As motorsport goes it is very cheap form of racing

•    The class is controlled.  Built on the standard production Swift Sport 1600 with class rules set by Motor Sport New Zealand, the cars are race-modified to set specifications to ensure even competition.  (Cars are certified Road-legal with WOF. )

•    It is highly competitive and comes down to driver skill and the will to win.

The Australian Motorsport Enews has reported that the series will be run by Queensland based company Trans Tasman Motorsport which plan to build thirty cars, with five already underway.

With the Australian series starting next year there may be several drivers that head to NZ to compete and gain experience over the 2010-11 summer series which gets underway at the beginning of September.
