Racing at Teretonga Park this Sunday

Photo: Teretonga Park

Three popular classes feature on the track when the final motor race meeting of the season takes place at Teretonga Park on Sunday.

The event, presented by Downer, will see the Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons, Pre 65 Saloons plus Sports & Racing Cars on track for a day of quickfire action.

The Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans races sees Bradley Dawson of Invercargill return for his second drive in the V8 powered Mazda RX7 owned by his uncle, former OSCA Super Saloon Champion Colin Dawson. Bradley adapted quickly to the car in his first outing last month and should have too much power for his rivals on Sunday. However behind him the action should be intense. Andrew Brown of Invercargill returns in his Honda Civic turbo and should feature in a three way fight with Brent Cross of Winton in his Mitsubishi EVO and Invercargill driver Robert Ralston in his Nissan Silvia. Dave McLean of Riversdale is another who should be to the fore.

In the Pre 65 Saloons another local driver, Wayne Tuffley in his Ford Mustang, would have to be the man to beat. Brian Scott of Dunedin is in another of the more powerful cars in the field, a Ford XP Falcon, as is Barry Morgan of Wanaka while John Smolenski of Invercargill makes an appearance in a Mustang normally driven by Greg Stewart. Also on the grid will be a variety of Ford Cortina's, Anglia's, a Hillman Imp and a PB Vauxhall.

The Sports & Racing Car field sees karting star Jamie Conroy of Invercargill make another appearance in a Formula Renault while regulars such as Steve Heffernan, Trevor Earley, Don Nelson and others will provide some great competition.
