Kinsman has big boots to fill this weekend

Reigning New Zealand Senior 100cc Yamaha Light champion Daniel Kinsman has big boots to fill as he contests the premier SS Open class at the 35th annual Toyota All-Japan SL Kart meeting in Japan this weekend.

Last year Christchurch karter Matthew Hamilton won the class outright after finishing third on his debut at the event in 2006.

The event attracts top karters from the various Yamaha classes in Japan as well as from countries like Australia and New Zealand, drivers like Kinsman and Hamilton earning the opportunity to represent New Zealand by winning the Senior 100cc Yamaha Light title at KartSport New Zealand's annual Sprint Kart Championship meeting over the Easter weekend.

This weekend's event marks the beginning of a busy month for Kinsman, who by winning his class in the annual Right Karts KartStars Rotax Max Challenge series as well has also earned himself a trip to that category's Grand Final meeting at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates at the end of the month.
