Fast Focus RS wins at Teretonga

Photo: Grant Aitken
Grant Aitkens NZNEW Focus RS dominated the C class at the Teretonga round of the Production Race Series meeting in the weekend, once again winning the C class round.

In addition, Aitkens consistent result maintains his second place overall in the championship.

The meeting comprised three particularly challenging races, with the first being a 30 lap enduro. The Focus had qualified second overall, but could only maintain third place behind the four wheel drive Evos of Logan Childs and Grant Liston, but still winning the class.

“The brakes are the only achilles heel of the Focus, and 30 laps is quite testing,” Grant said.

The second race resulted in a similar first in class and third overall result.

The third reverse grid 12 lap race started in dry conditions, but quickly deteriorated into a downpour, with the early loss of Kevin Varney who slid off in the challenging conditions.

Aitken duelled with Liston for the duration of the race with Aitken making several daring attempts around the outside of the infamous Teretonga loop. However it would not be until the last corner of the last lap that Aitken overtook Liston for a 4th overall.

"All in all, a challenging set of races, and I am quite pleased to have finished the weekend where we did, maintaining the lead in the class, and still holding second place overall". Aitken commented.
The series moves on to Levels Raceway at Timaru this weekend for the fourth round of the Production Racing Series.
