Drift South organised Drift competitions have announced their programme for the coming season, sponsored by Japanese Race Supplies [JapRace] and Mag and Turbo.
JapRace will front the Pro Drift Series with 4 rounds at Powerbuilt Tools Raceway and one round at the Levels circuit in Timaru. This is the elite class for full on talented drift crazy drivers hanging out rear wheeled, mainly Japanese car makes in a controlled slide while maintaining speed and form in exciting one on one battles to establish the overall Ichiban Drift King.
Mag and Turbo will add their support to a new class promoted as Street Legal Drift, a challenge for street registered cars completing a lap of the circuit as fast as possible, but with a twist. Within that lap there will be designated drift or style corners where drivers can score additional points by displaying their drift style skills. These points are calculated to give a net lap score across several runs, combined to provide an overall winner for the day.
In addition, 22nd of October will see the advent of Powerbuilt Super Drift. This will involve both Pro Drift and Street Legal cars in a continuous multi drift run through two drift zones providing spectators with an overdose of drift action. For the first time Pro Drift competitors will be invited to enter 2 car teams in what will effectively be synchronized team drift where they will be judged on speed, form and style endeavoring to perform awe inspiring two car drift action.
Plenty of excitement is guaranteed for spectators interested in checking out the extreme off the street driving skills of our talented young drivers in this most challenging form of motorsport.
