This weekend's final round of KartSport Mt Wellington's annual Three-Way Series sponsored by Merlot Investments Ltd, CRC & Bridgestone is set to be a cracker with the points close in virtually every class.
Only in Junior 100cc Yamaha Restricted and Unrated Cadets have any of the points leaders got a decent break after two rounds (15 points), with the rest of the class points leaders between four and 13 points ahead of the runner-up.
In Junior 100cc Yamaha Restricted it is Paul Blomqvist who is the points leader going into this weekend's final, but Ben Drummond is still just 15 points back.
The margin between first and second place is also 15 points in Unrated Cadet, but again points leader Bradley Wilson will have his work cut out keeping ahead of second-placed Oscar Grant.
In Cadet, points leader Joel Herbert has just a 13 point advantage over Rhys Tinney while in 125cc Rotax Max Heavy, leader Brent Gilchrist's advantage over second placed Peter Ball is only 12 points.
From there the advantage gets even smaller, with Matthew Griffin only seven points ahead of Tom Blomqvist in Formula Junior and Deon Forrest just five points ahead of Richard Moore in Senior 100cc Yamaha Light.
Moore leads the 125cc Rotax Max Light points standings but like Forrest in the Yamaha class, he is just five points head of the second placeman, in this case fellow kart-and-car racer Andrew Waite.
Joel Thrupp is another with just five points between himself and Junior 100cc Yamaha points runner-up Kendyll Hanley while there are just four points between Open class points leader Ryan Urban and runner-up John Lovich.
And what about the situation in Club Class where Gary Taylor and Milan Borich are tied at the top of the points tree on 369 points with Chris Ellson just four points back in third!
This weekend racing will be conducted in the track's 'normal' (clockwise) direction. There will be testing at the track on Saturday and karts on the track on Sunday morning from 9.00am.
A special feature of this year's series Three-Way Series is the main prize, or rather prizes, two 7-Day accommodation packages at the Oakridge Resort Grand Mercure hotel in Wanaka valued at $3000 each donated by overall series co-sponsor Merlot Investments Ltd and to be drawn at the end-of-series prizegiving on October 13 at the Waipuna Hotel and Convention Centre.
